Why It’s Great to Be a Charlottesville Business

466512365 e979bf1ad7Although we don’t like to brag, OttoPilot Media happens to be located in one of the most celebrated cities in the nation. Our home in Charlottesville, Virginia currently features beautiful fall foliage and temperate fall weather. But, that alone could not account for the dozens of awards Charlottesville has won over the years.

We are exceptionally proud of how wonderful it is to be a business in Charlottesville.

Currently, Forbes ranks Charlottesville as #27 in Job Growth and #31 in Best Small Places for Businesses and Careers. It also ranked #18 on CNN’s Best Places to Live and Launch 2008, and #19 on CNN’s Best Places to Launch 2009Kiplinger ranked Charlottesville the #4 Best City in 2009, largely due to its strong business base.

Several factors are conducive to Charlottesville’s success with businesses.

The first major factor is the University of Virginia. Located in Charlottesville, U.Va. employs nearly 18,000 local residents. It also livens the artistic, cultural, historical, and scientific industries within the community. Additionally, faculty research, most notably in health sciences, has created a spin-off of private research companies in the area. The student body provides an ardent customer base for small area shops.

Charlottesville is a two-hour drive from Washington D.C. and three hours from the Norfolk naval base, resulting in many government jobs within the area. Close proximity to urban areas also offers a network for entrepreneurs and the opportunities for growth and expansion.

We also tend to personally benefit from the 300 restaurants in Charlottesville: one of the highest restaurants per capita in America.

Ever been to Charlottesville? Stop by our offices and say hi!
